Caroline Kaeb Joins BLAW Faculty With a Joint Appointment in Human Rights

Caroline Kaeb, assistant professor of Business Law and Human Rights

Caroline Kaeb joins UConn as an assistant professor of Business Law and Human Rights in Fall 2014. She also has a joint appointment at UConn’s Human Rights Institute. Most recently, Professor Kaeb was a visiting assistant professor at Northwestern University School of Law and an affiliated faculty member at the Ford Motor Company Center for Global Citizenship at the Kellogg School of Management. She teaches Corporate Compliance and the Social Mandate, Corporations, and European Union Law.

Professor Kaeb’s research focuses on international and European business law, corporate compliance (especially issues pertaining to business & human rights), corporate social responsibility, and international human rights law. She is particularly interested in corporate compliance as a function of law and morality and the intersection between law and social norms as it informs regulatory design questions. Professor Kaeb earned her Ph.D. in International Studies (International Law & Economics) from the University of Trento, Italy, holds a law degree from the University of Erlangen, Germany, and received an LL.M. in International and Comparative Law from The George Washington University Law School.

Professor Kaeb has served as a consultant on social investment and innovative business strategies with “Mission Measurement LLC,” a social impact consulting firm based in Chicago, and was a consultant with the “Global Network Initiative” on Internet freedom of expression and privacy protection in the information communication technologies. Her work has been published in the Berkeley Journal of International Law, American Journal of International Law, and Northwestern Journal of International Law and Business, among others.
